Relay for Life 2010
Start: 13/03/2010
Finish: 14/03/2010
Location: Rotorua International Stadium Time: 2pm-12pm Relay is not a race - it's a celebration and awareness-raising event for the survivors and families of those with cancer - it's a time for remembrance.
Teams of at least ten participate.
At the event team members take turns to keep the Relay going overnight while they enthusiastically join in activities and create a wonderful atmosphere for everyone.
Participants can camp overnight and stay for the whole event, or just visit to do a few laps, or perhaps simply contribute their presence.
Funds raised during Relay for Life ensure that the Cancer Society can continue to provide free services to cancer patients, promote early detection of cancer and fund cancer research.

Lakefront Airshow
Start: 13/03/2010
Finish: 13/03/2010
Location: Rotorua Lakefront Time: 1-4.30pm All eyes will be focused skywards at the Rotorua Lakefront on Saturday 13 March when the "Lets go Rotorua lakefront air show' is staged to celebrate the commencement of trans-Tasman air services.
The air show and on ground carnival is being presented by the Rotorua District Council. The generous support of the Rotorua Trust, The Daily Post and Radio Works allows us to make this show a FREE family event and Rotorua residents are being invited to bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy a programme of free entertainment in a real family friendly carnival atmosphere.
With three hours of entertainment both in the sky and on the ground there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Air activities begin at 1:30pm
The air show, featuring 15 spectacular displays and and an on-ground carnival at the Lakefront, was originally scheduled to take place on December 12 to commemorate the arrival of the cityandrsquo;s first trans-Tasman flight from Sydney. However the show had to be postponed due to poor weather.
Events and Venues Rotorua general manager Peter McLeod says he is delighted that the free family event is back on following the determined efforts of organisers to reschedule the show.
"The air show has been highly anticipated by locals, organisers, pilots and performers alike. There's been a massive amount of hard work going on behind the scenes, so we're pleased to be able to offer this fantastic event to our community so soon after the original date."
An alternative date of Sunday 14 March has been set aside in case of bad weather on the Saturday.
